Long Distance Moving From Auckland
A long-distance move needs a tighter plan than a local move. Missing items, unsuitable packing or incorrect access information can create significant delays once the truck is several hours from Auckland.
We plan the job around your collection and delivery addresses, the total furniture and box volume, truck access at both properties, your preferred moving date and any overnight or ferry arrangements. Our team loads your belongings, protects suitable furniture with blankets inside the truck and unloads at the destination — tell us which rooms things belong in and a clear labelling system helps us place everything correctly.

Long Distance Moving Prices
Our standard rate is $110 per hour excluding GST, including two trained movers and a fully equipped medium-sized truck. A one-off $50 call-out fee excluding GST also applies.
Long-distance moves require an individual written quote based on the route, travel time, inventory and access. Any additional travel-related costs applying to your move will be explained before you book.

A Complete Inventory Matters
A local move sometimes allows room for an unexpected chair or several extra boxes. A long-distance move has less flexibility — the truck must have enough capacity for everything being collected, and your inventory affects the estimated loading time, travel plan and delivery schedule.
Include beds, sofas, appliances, garage and shed contents, office furniture, mirrors, artwork and an estimated box count. Photos or a video walkthrough can help us understand the volume. If the move exceeds the truck's capacity, it may require a reduced item list, an additional trip or a staged move — tell us about every item before confirming.
Packing, Appliances & Furniture Protection
Packing For A Long Distance Move
Belongings spend longer in transit during an intercity move. Use strong cartons and close them with packing tape, pack heavier items into smaller cartons, and clearly label fragile contents, destination room and boxes that must remain upright. Our Auckland packing services are available if you want help with selected rooms or the full property.
Preparing Appliances
Appliances should be disconnected and ready before our movers arrive. Empty the fridge and freezer, defrost and dry refrigeration appliances, disconnect washing machine hoses and secure electrical cables. Some refrigerators need to remain upright and may require a waiting period before being switched on — follow the manufacturer's guidance. Gas appliances, plumbing and fixed electrical connections should be disconnected by the appropriate tradesperson.
Protecting Furniture Over A Longer Journey
We use furniture blankets inside the truck to protect suitable furniture, and trolleys are supplied for standard moving tasks. Furniture should be empty before it is moved — tell us about glass furniture, mirrored panels, stone surfaces, antiques and delicate timber finishes so the correct approach can be discussed. Suitable furniture can be dismantled where needed; keep instructions and fittings together and label screws and hardware.
Moving From A House Or Apartment
House moves often include belongings from several areas of the property — check bedrooms, garage, garden shed, deck and any attic or off-site storage. Apartments require additional planning when a lift or loading dock is only available for a set period; confirm floor level, lift booking times, basement height and building moving hours.
Moving Into Or Out Of Storage
Storage can help when settlement dates, tenancy dates or property handovers do not align. Confirm the facility address, unit number, opening hours, loading access and lift availability, our container moves and storage service may assist when belongings are moving into or out of an arranged facility.

Timing Your Move & Preparing The Delivery Address
Your preferred delivery time should be discussed before booking. Travel can be affected by Auckland traffic, roadworks, weather, ferry schedules and loading or unloading time — we plan around the agreed route, but exact arrival times cannot always be guaranteed because road conditions can change.
Make sure keys and access codes are available, driveways and loading areas are clear, lifts are booked and someone can direct furniture placement at the destination. Keep your phone available during the move, and avoid scheduling a flight or urgent appointment too close to the expected delivery period.
